PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) is a preventative medication that significantly reduces the risk of HIV infection when taken by individuals who are not infected with HIV.

At our clinic, we offer both Daily PrEP, which is taken every day, and On-Demand PrEP, which is taken as needed before sexual activity.

We currently use Descovy (generic), which is said to have a relatively low burden on the kidneys and bones.

【About Test Kits】
To safely start and continue PrEP, it is necessary to confirm negative results for HIV and Hepatitis B before starting. If you do not have recent test results, please be sure to order from the links below.
If test results are not provided in your medical questionnaire response, we will add the payment and ship them with your PrEP.

Indications

PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) is a preventive method that can reduce the risk of HIV infection by approximately 99% when taken before exposure to HIV.

At our clinic, we offer:
・"Daily PrEP" taken every day
・"On-demand PrEP" taken only when sexual activity is planned

You can choose according to your lifestyle.

Directions and Dosage

Daily PrEP
Take one tablet once a day, preferably at the same time each day.

On-Demand PrEP
Take two tablets 2 to 24 hours before sex, then one tablet 24 hours later, and another tablet 24 hours after that (2-1-1 regimen).

If you have sex on multiple days, continue taking the medication until 48 hours after your last sexual encounter.

Regarding Fees

The displayed price includes the consultation fee and medication costs.

Side effects

・Confirm HIV-negative status before starting PrEP.・Quarterly HIV testing is recommended while on PrEP.・Individuals with Hepatitis B cannot use PrEP.・On-demand PrEP is not recommended for women.・PrEP only prevents HIV. It does not prevent syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, etc.

Precautions for use

・Confirm HIV-negative status before starting medication.
・Regular HIV testing every three months is recommended during treatment.
・Individuals with hepatitis B cannot use PrEP.

Contraindications - Who Should Not Use

・Persons with a history of hypersensitivity (allergy) to the ingredients of this drug
・HIV positive individuals
・Individuals infected with hepatitis B
・Individuals for whom a doctor has deemed unsuitable

FAQs

Are regular tests necessary to continue PrEP?

Yes. To safely and effectively continue PrEP, we ask that you undergo the following tests according to guidelines:

・HIV test: Before starting, then every 3 months

・Hepatitis B test: Before starting, then annually

・Kidney function test: Annually (excluding those 50 years or older, or those with impaired kidney function)

*If you are unable to submit your most recent test results when completing the medical questionnaire, we will charge an additional fee for HIV and Hepatitis B test kits.

When will I see results?

For daily PrEP

・Anal sex: Approximately 7 days
・Vaginal sex/blood exposure: Approximately 20 days

Sufficient preventative effects can be expected with continuous use.

What if I forget to take a dose?

Take it immediately once you notice, and on the following day, take it as usual. Please note that frequent forgotten doses can reduce the preventative effect.

Can it also prevent other STIs?

PrEP only prevents HIV. Please consider DoxyPEP for the prevention of syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, and other STIs.

What should I do if I don't have my test results?

PrEPを安全に開始するためには、HIV検査およびB型肝炎検査の陰性確認が必要です。

直近の検査結果をお持ちでない場合は、以下のいずれかの方法でご利用いただけます。

・当院の検査キットを追加購入する

・自治体の無料検査や健康診断

・他院で受けた検査結果をご提出いただく

他院で受けた検査結果をご提出いただける場合は、当院の検査キットは不要です。

なお、問診回答時に検査結果をご提出いただけない場合は、安全にPrEPをご利用いただくため、HIV・B型肝炎検査キットを追加させていただきます。
