Isotretinoin is an oral medication used to treat severe and intractable acne. It is expected to be effective for acne that does not improve with insurance-covered treatments or topical medications.

Isotretinoin is usually taken in 1 course over 4 to 6 months. The dosage and duration will be adjusted by the doctor depending on the symptoms.
