Our clinic offers influenza prevention with Xofluza and Oseltamivir (Tamiflu generic).

These medications are designed to reduce the risk of developing influenza after exposure by suppressing the multiplication of the influenza virus. Taking them as soon as possible after contact with an infected person can provide a preventive effect.

Xofluza

Recommended for those who:

・Want to complete prevention with a single dose
・Are concerned about forgetting to take their medication
・Are busy and find continuous medication difficult

Oseltamivir (Tamiflu generic)

Recommended for those who:

・Prefer a proven preventive medication
・Can take medication for several days
・Have an ongoing risk of infection within their family, etc.

While both medications are expected to reduce the risk of developing influenza, they do not 100% prevent infection or development. It is important to also take basic infection control measures such as handwashing, wearing masks, and ventilation.

用法・用量

Xofluza
・Take once, usually within 48 hours of exposure, as directed by your doctor.
・Take 2 tablets (40mg) if you weigh under 80kg, and 4 tablets (80mg) if you weigh 80kg or more.

Oseltamivir
・Take once daily for 7 to 10 days, as directed by your doctor.
・Begin taking 7 days prior to the day of exposure.

Which should I choose?

Does taking preventive medication guarantee I won't get infected?

Can I take Xofluza and oseltamivir together?

Normally, only one or the other is used. Concomitant use is not common, so please follow your doctor's instructions.

Can I take it after symptoms appear?

Yes. Although this medicine is also used for post-onset treatment, it is recommended to start taking it within 48 hours of onset for treatment purposes.
