What is a PEP?

PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) is a method to prevent HIV infection after exposure. Take it once a day at the same time every day for 28 consecutive days. We recommend getting tested one, three, and six months after starting PEP. After 28 days, you can start PrEP for HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis.

How effective is PEP?

It is said that if taken within 72 hours of sexual intercourse and administered correctly, the prevention rate is over 99%.

Are there any side effects of PEP?

You may experience headaches, nausea, and abdominal bloating (around 2%). These are usually mild and disappear within about a month. However, if the side effects are severe or concerning, please consult a doctor. If you experience fever, fatigue, or flu-like symptoms, these might not be side effects but rather indicate a recent HIV infection, so please consult a doctor as soon as possible.

Are tests for HIV, hepatitis B, etc. included?

Does PEP prevent anything other than HIV?
