If you realize you have forgotten to take a dose, take it as soon as possible. From the next day, continue taking it at your usual time.

05. What is the probability of prevention, and can I get infected after starting PrEP? (Daily PrEP)

Daily PrEP is said to be 99% effective in preventing HIV infection when taken correctly.
However, it is possible to test HIV-positive after starting PrEP if the individual was already infected with HIV before starting PrEP but the infection was not detected in initial tests due to being within the window period, or if the PrEP medication was not taken correctly.

06. How long does it take for the medication to be effective after starting it? (Daily PrEP)

PrEP medication is absorbed in the intestines and transported throughout the body via the bloodstream. It is estimated to take about 7 days for the preventive effect to reach its maximum.

07. Does this medicine have any side effects?

In the short term, symptoms such as nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, headache, and skin rash may occur, but these are usually mild and resolve within a few weeks.
Long-term concerns may include decreased kidney function and reduced bone mineral density, but kidney function will be monitored regularly. Even if bone mineral density decreases, it will recover upon discontinuation of PrEP.

08. How should I store the medicine?

Store the medicine at room temperature, away from high temperatures and humidity. If you will be carrying the medicine in a pill case out of its original bottle for an extended period, use a desiccant.
