How to drink

This method involves taking medication continuously for 28 days, starting as early as possible within 72 hours of sexual intercourse. It can prevent HIV 99.9% of the time. The sooner you start, the higher the preventive effect is said to be.

Take one dose once a day, at the same time each day, for 28 consecutive days. The remaining two tablets are spares. We recommend that you get tested one, three, and six months after you start taking the medication. You can start HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) 28 days after you start taking the medication.

05.   What is the probability of prevention, and can I get infected after starting to take it? (Daily PrEP)

Daily PrEP is said to prevent HIV infection 99% of the time when taken correctly.
However, a person may test positive for HIV after starting PrEP if they were already infected with HIV before starting PrEP but the infection was not detected by tests at the time due to being within the window period, or if they were unable to take PrEP medication correctly.

06.   How long does it take for the medication to be effective after starting it? (Daily PrEP)

PrEP medication is absorbed in the intestines and transported throughout the body via the bloodstream. It is estimated to take about 7 days for the preventative effect to reach its maximum.

07. Are there any side effects from the medication?

In the short term, symptoms such as nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, headache, and skin rash may appear, but these symptoms are mild and subside within a few weeks.
In the long term, a decrease in kidney function and bone mineral density may be observed, but kidney function will be regularly monitored. Even if bone mineral density decreases, it can recover by discontinuing PrEP.

08. How should I store my medicine?

Store the medicine at room temperature, avoiding high temperatures and humidity. If you take the medicine out of the bottle for an extended period and place it in a pill case to carry with you, use a desiccant or similar product.
