A highly effective and safe medication for HIV prevention

・PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) is a method to prevent HIV infection after exposure.

・It is said that if medication is started within 72 hours of sexual intercourse and taken appropriately, the prevention rate is over 99%. Please be assured that our domestic component testing facility regularly conducts PrEP and PEP tests.

How to Take PEP

Take once a day at the same time every day for 28 consecutive days. We recommend getting tested one month, three months, and six months after starting medication. After 28 days, you can start PrEP for HIV prevention.

Are there any side effects?

Headaches, nausea, and abdominal bloating may occur (around 2%). These are usually mild and disappear within about a month. However, if the side effects are severe or you are concerned, please consult a doctor. If you experience fever, fatigue, or flu-like symptoms, please consult a doctor as soon as possible, as these may not be side effects but rather a sign of recent HIV infection.

Does PEP prevent anything other than HIV?

It does not protect against anything other than HIV. Please use DoxyPEP for the prevention of syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia.

Is installment payment available?

If I can't start taking the medication within 72 hours, should I still take it?

While I cannot definitively say, as there is no research on starting medication more than 72 hours later, I recommend taking it if it's only slightly past that time.
If more than about a week has passed, please consult us. We usually recommend HIV testing one month after the risky behavior.
