PEP, or Post-Exposure Prophylaxis, is a method of HIV prevention. It involves taking HIV treatment medication after potential exposure to HIV, such as after sexual activity, to prevent HIV infection. When taken as scheduled, PEP has been shown to reduce the risk of HIV infection by 99%.

Highly effective and safe medication to prevent HIV

・PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) is a method to prevent HIV infection after exposure.

・If taken within 72 hours of exposure and continued as prescribed, it is said to be over 99% effective. Please be assured that our domestic testing facility regularly inspects PrEP and PEP.

How to Take PEP

Take one pill once a day at the same time every day and continue for 28 days. We recommend that you get tested one month, three months, and six months after starting medication. After 28 days, you can start PrEP for HIV prevention.

Are there any side effects?

Headaches, nausea, and abdominal bloating may occur (around 2%). These are usually mild and disappear within about a month. However, if the side effects are severe or you are concerned, please consult a doctor. If you experience fever, fatigue, or flu-like symptoms (influenza-like symptoms), it may not be a side effect but rather a possibility of recent HIV infection, so please consult a doctor as soon as possible.

Does PEP prevent anything other than HIV?

It does not prevent any STIs other than HIV. Please use Doxy-PEP to prevent syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia.

Can I pay in installments?

I can't start taking the medication within 72 hours, but should I still take it?

While I cannot definitively say, as there are no studies on starting the medication more than 72 hours after exposure, I recommend taking it if only a short time has passed beyond that window.
If more than approximately one week has passed, please consult us. We generally recommend HIV testing one month after the risky behavior.
